International Group
Chair Paul Taggart
The International Group met in September 2025. The agenda for the initial meeting contained a host of issues for discussion related to the propagation of the Pledge.
Among these was a draft business plan which is intended to chart the way forward for introducing the Pledge to the international market, including outreach, toolbox and promotional activities.
Thus far, the group is comprised of members based in England, Canada, Turkey, Hong Kong and the USA, all with experience in a variety of jurisdictions across the globe. We want to expand this group as part of the business plan and outreach.
Group members were asked to provide comments based on their experience of what would work where, based on their experience of their operating jurisdictions, considering that one size may not fit all.
The issue of ADR tools was also raised. This will be discussed further in conjunction with the coalition's working group that is looking at updating the CA Toolbox. Next meeting to held in October.
Contracts Group
Chair Anthony Armitage
The Contract Group continues to grow and expand its influence across most disciplines in the construction sector. We now have 27 individual members, comprising lawyers, surveyors, advisers, academics, insurers and other construction professionals.
We are finalising a strategy document setting out our primary function of promoting the adoption of fair, clear and balanced contract conditions for the UK construction industry, and the core group activities that accompany it. This includes the development of a training module on the advantages of contract standardisation and the risks of amendments to standard form contracts.
We are liaising closely with industry organisations like the JCT, FIDIC, World Commerce & Contracting and the Construction Leadership Council to help broadcast our message. |
